Fantastic Fest Lineup: ‘Black Phone 2,’ ‘Sisu: Road To Revenge,’ ‘ Shelby Oaks,’ ‘Primate,’ ‘Vicious’ & More Set For 20th Anniversary Edition

Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the U.S., taking place from September 18-25 this year at The Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, TX, has unveiled its 20th anniversary lineup.
Featuring 45 World Premieres, 15 International and North American Premieres, and 13 U.S. Premieres, the festival will open with the world premiere of Paramount’s Primate from director Johannes Roberts and close with the world premiere of Independent Film Company and Shudder’s Whistle, a new horror film from The Nun‘s Corin Hardy.
Other major titles screening include Stage 6 Films & Screen Gems’ Sisu: Road to Revenge, Paramount’s Vicious starring Dakota Fanning, Universal and Blumhouse’s Black Phone 2, Neon’s Shelby Oaks and Cannes jury prize-winner Sirât, Lionsgaten’s The Strangers – Chapter 2, Shudder’s latest installment of V/H/S/Halloween and The Creep Tapes Season 2, and A24’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
As always, the fest will feature myriad events. Highlights this year include Fantastic Pitches, a new program supporting filmmakers by providing $100,000 in funding and a global distribution deal with new genre label Chroma, as well as a heavy metal performance by Castle Rat at the opening night party, a celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Masters of Horror, a fundraiser for The Transgender Film Center, a Ghoulish Book Fair, a medieval drag show, Doug Benson’s Movie Interruption show, and numerous restoration screenings in partnership with the American Genre Film Archive.
